Your SST School Got Suspended: What to Do Before the Grace Period Ends

If your SST school got suspended, Dec 7, 2026 is your last day to fix it. Revocation comes on Dec 8. The fix is to retake the hours with a school that’s registered with NYC DOB, and the time to start is this week.

NYC DOB’s redcode FAQ lays out the calendar. The grace period started Sept 8. The last day of the grace period is Dec 7. Revocation is Dec 8.

If your hours came from a suspended school, plan around Dec 7. That is the last day, so that is the day everything has to be done: course finished, photo and ID accepted, card processed. Waiting for Dec 8 means waiting for revocation.

NYC DOB also keeps a service updates page on nyc.gov. Check it again before you lock in your plan, in case anything changes.

It’s not your fault, and it’s still your deadline

You sat through the class. You got the card. Then the school got suspended and somebody else’s paperwork turned into your problem. That’s a raw deal, and the calendar doesn’t care whose fault it is.

It’s the same story we told in Busted SST schools: the worker pays. The school makes the mess. The worker cleans it up.

What to do this week, in order

• Confirm it’s your school. Read the NYC DOB redcode FAQ and the service updates page. The group chat is not a government agency, and neither is the guy who knows a guy.
• Pick the course that matches the hours you need to redo. The 10-hour SST Worker course and the 40-hour SST package are both online and self-paced. The SST Worker card page has the card details if you want them.
• Use a school that’s actually registered. You already got burned once, so check the next school against NYC DOB’s provider record before you start. • Get your photo and ID right the first time. The card clock only starts when everything is clear, so a blurry photo costs you time you don’t have.

Count backward from Dec 7

The courses are online, self-paced, in English and Spanish. You finish when you finish, so the only thing you control is when you start.

Pick the date you want the card in hand. Count back from there through shipping, the photo and ID check, and the hours of the course. That’s your start date. If the count lands in the past, start today.

Then the card. Once the course is complete, your photo and ID are accepted, and the Training Connect certificate is in, your card is processed immediately, typically in hand within 48 hours. What you pay after checkout

Tell your foreman before it turns into an emergency

Tell your foreman now that you’re retaking the hours and when you expect the new card. A foreman would rather hear that in November than get surprised in December.

Everyone caught by a suspended school is on the same clock. Every step you leave for later, from the course to the photo to the shipping, is a step that can slip into the last week.
