What is an SST card?
An SST card is the NYC Department of Buildings Site Safety Training credential that proves you finished the safety training Local Law 196 requires. It is a New York City requirement, not an OSHA card. Your training is recorded in NYC DOB Training Connect and printed on the card.
Who needs an SST card?
Construction workers and supervisors on NYC DOB-permitted sites covered by Local Law 196 need an SST card. That generally means major building and demolition sites, and sites that require a superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator or Site Safety Manager. If a permit is posted and work is active, assume you need one.
Which card do I need: Worker or Supervisor?
The Worker card takes 40 hours in total and the Supervisor card takes 62 hours in total. Worker is OSHA 30 plus our 10-Hour SST; Supervisor is OSHA 30 plus our 32-Hour SST. Our SST 10-Hour is not OSHA 10. Unsure? Use "Help me choose".
How long does the course take, and can I do it online at my own pace?
Yes, our SST courses are 100% online and self-paced, on a phone, tablet or computer. The 10-Hour Worker course is 10 hours of content and the 32-Hour Supervisor course is 32 hours. Videos cannot be skipped, because NYC DOB requires minimum watch time. OSHA 30 takes at least 4 days.
How fast does my card arrive?
Your card is processed immediately, typically in hand within 48 hours, once your training, an acceptable photo and any required OSHA card are in. Every card ships with a tracking number. For pickup, call or text (646) 494-5575.
How does renewal work, and when do I renew?
SST cards expire 5 years after the card is issued, and you renew with the 8-Hour Worker or 16-Hour Supervisor Renewal. Renew when your card expires within 12 months. If it expired on or after May 3, 2026, you have a one-year grace period. If it expired earlier, you need a new card.
Are your courses available in Spanish?
Yes, the worker, supervisor and renewal courses are all available in Spanish, as standalone Spanish courses. English and Spanish cost the same. Your card is the same card either way.
What happens after I finish the course?
After you finish, we verify your records, file your certificates in NYC DOB Training Connect, and process your card. You send your training records, photo and ID so we can review your application. The card ships with a tracking number.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back: if you are not satisfied, ask for a refund and a real person reviews your request.
