1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account & Registration Information: Full name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and password when you create an account or register for a course.
  • Payment Information: Credit/debit card details, billing address, and transaction history. Payment data is processed securely by Stripe and is not stored on our servers.
  • Course Enrollment Data: The specific courses you purchase, enrollment dates, and completion certificates.
  • Form Submissions: Any information you submit through our contact forms, registration forms, or support requests (processed via WPForms).
  • Communications: Records of emails, phone calls, or chat conversations you have with our support team.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device & Browser Information: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, screen resolution, and device identifiers.
  • Usage Data: Pages visited, time spent on pages, links clicked, referring URLs, and navigation paths through our website.
  • Course Progress Data: Lesson completion status, quiz scores, video watch time, and certification progress tracked through our LearnDash learning management system.
  • Cookies & Tracking Technologies: We use cookies, pixel tags, and similar technologies as described in Section 5 below.

1.3 Information From Third Parties

  • Payment confirmation and fraud prevention data from Stripe.
  • Analytics data from Google Analytics and Google Site Kit.
  • Social media interactions if you engage with our content on external platforms.

  • Enrolling you in purchased courses and tracking your progress
  • Issuing SST certification cards upon course completion

2.2 Communication

  • Sending transactional emails (order confirmations, enrollment notices, certificate delivery)
  • Sending course reminders, expiration notices (SST cards expire every 5 years under NYC Local Law 196), and renewal alerts
  • Contacting you about account-related matters via email or phone
  • Mobile Phone Numbers: Your mobile phone contact information will not be shared or sold to third parties for marketing purposes. We use your phone number only to communicate directly with you about your courses, certifications, and account-related matters.

  • Processing transactions and preventing fraud
  • Improving website functionality and course content
  • Analyzing usage patterns to enhance user experience
  • Complying with legal and regulatory obligations
  • Maintaining records required by NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) and Local Law 196

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:

3.1 Service Providers

We work with trusted third-party companies that help us deliver our services. These providers are contractually required to protect your data and may only use it for the purpose we specify:

  • Stripe — Payment processing. When you purchase a course, your payment information is transmitted directly to Stripe. We do not store your full card number. Stripe’s privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy

  • Vimeo — Video hosting for course content. Vimeo may collect viewing data. All our videos are domain-restricted to sst.nyc. Vimeo’s privacy policy: vimeo.com/privacy
  • Tawk.to — Live chat support. If you use our chat widget, your conversation and basic device info are processed by Tawk.to. Tawk.to’s privacy policy: tawk.to/privacy-policy
  • Zapier — Workflow automation connecting our internal systems (e.g., enrollment notifications, form processing). Data passed through Zapier is limited to what is necessary for each automation. Zapier’s privacy policy: zapier.com/privacy
  • WPForms — Online form submissions (contact forms, registration forms). Form data is stored securely within our WordPress environment.
  • Hostinger — Web hosting provider that stores our website files and databases on servers located in the United States.

3.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

3.3 Business Transfers

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy:

  • Account Data: Retained for the duration of your account and for 7 years after account closure, as required for tax and compliance records.
  • Course Completion & Certification Records: Retained indefinitely to support NYC DOB compliance verification and certificate re-issuance requests.
  • Payment Records: Retained for 7 years in accordance with financial recordkeeping requirements.
  • Support Communications: Retained for 3 years.
  • Website Analytics Data: Retained for 26 months (Google Analytics default).
  • Form Submissions: Retained for 2 years unless the submission results in an ongoing account relationship.

When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

7.3 Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your personal information. Please note that we may be required to retain certain information for legal, tax, or compliance purposes (e.g., certification records required by NYC DOB).

8. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

Our services are designed for adults working in the construction and safety industries. Our courses and certifications are intended for individuals 18 years of age or older.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete that information. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at support@sst.nyc.


9. California Residents — CCPA Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with additional rights regarding your personal information:
