At SST.NYC, we want you to feel confident purchasing your Site Safety Training (SST) course. This Refund Policy explains when refunds are available, what is not eligible for refund, and how to request one. Please read this policy carefully before enrolling.


Returns & Exchanges

  • Returns: We accept returns for defective products only. If you receive a defective SST card, Worker Wallet card, or experience a verified platform defect that prevents course access, contact us within 14 days for a full refund or replacement.
  • Exchanges: Exchanges are not accepted. If you purchased the wrong course, please see Section 2 below for our refund eligibility policy.
  • Digital Courses: As digital products delivered instantly upon purchase, online courses cannot be physically returned. Refund eligibility is governed by the terms outlined below.

1. Digital Course Sales — General Policy

Digital course sales are generally final. Because our courses are delivered instantly upon payment and contain proprietary training materials developed to meet NYC DOB requirements, we follow a limited refund policy standard for digital educational products.

However, we are committed to being fair. If you have a legitimate issue, contact us — we will do our best to make it right.


2. Eligible Refund Situations

We will issue a full refund in the following circumstances:

  • Technical issues caused by our platform: If a confirmed bug or outage on our end prevents you from accessing or completing your course, and we cannot resolve it within 5 business days, you are entitled to a full refund.
  • Duplicate purchase: If you accidentally purchased the same course more than once, we will refund the duplicate charge. Contact us within 30 days of the second purchase.
  • Wrong course enrolled: If you purchased the wrong course, notify us within 48 hours of purchase and before starting the course. We will issue a full refund or apply the payment toward the correct course.
  • Course not started within 30 days: If you have not accessed any course content within 30 days of purchase and contact us before accessing the material, we may issue a refund at our discretion.

3. Non-Refundable Situations

Refunds will not be issued in the following cases:

  • You have started the course (accessed any lesson or content) and simply changed your mind
  • You failed quizzes or the final exam due to insufficient preparation
  • You are unable to complete the course due to personal scheduling or time constraints
  • Your employer no longer requires the training after you have already purchased it
  • You purchased the wrong course but have already begun coursework
  • Your account is suspended or terminated for a Terms of Service violation
  • NYC DOB policy changes affect your SST card validity after course completion
  • You completed the course and received your SST card

4. Partial Refunds and Course Progress

Partial refunds are not standard, but we review requests on a case-by-case basis. If you are part-way through a course and encounter extenuating circumstances, email us at support@sst.nyc with your order number and a brief explanation. We will review and respond within 3 business days.

For multi-module or bundled course purchases, refunds may be prorated based on the percentage of content not yet accessed, at our sole discretion.


5. SST Card Processing — Refund Policy

The NYC DOB SST card is a physical card processed through a third-party government system. Once your SST card application has been submitted to the NYC DOB:

  • Card processing fees are non-refundable
  • If a card cannot be processed due to incorrect information you provided (wrong name, address, ID number), you are responsible for any re-processing fees
  • If a card cannot be processed due to an error on our end, we will re-process at no charge or issue a refund for the processing fee
  • Lost or undelivered cards: if your card does not arrive within 21 business days of processing, contact us and we will investigate. Replacement cards may be subject to a reprint fee if the original was delivered to the correct address

6. Rush Processing — Refund Policy

Rush processing fees (if applicable) are non-refundable once processing has begun. If rush processing has not yet started, you may request cancellation and refund of the rush fee by contacting us immediately at support@sst.nyc.


7. How to Request a Refund

To submit a refund request:

  1. Email support@sst.nyc with the subject line: “Refund Request — [Your Order Number]”
  2. Include your full name, email address used for purchase, order number, and reason for the refund request
  3. We will acknowledge your request within 1 business day and provide a decision within 3 business days

8. Refund Processing Time

Approved refunds are processed as follows:

  • Credit/debit card refunds: 5–10 business days to appear on your statement, depending on your bank or card issuer
  • Original payment method: Refunds are always returned to the original payment method used at purchase — we do not issue cash or check refunds for online purchases
  • Processing notification: You will receive an email confirmation when your refund has been initiated

9. Chargebacks

If you initiate a chargeback with your bank or credit card company before contacting us, your account will be suspended pending resolution. We encourage you to contact us directly first — most issues can be resolved quickly without a chargeback dispute.
